Elon Musk is at it again and again, this time with the launch of his 4th company, the cheekily named "Boring Company", which for now is concerned with tunneling infrastructure. Elon seems to be fully ignoring the paradigms of capitalism and in this next move, is actually using is private capitol to create infrastructure.... how crazy is that. This is the second post this week on Archigram like city concepts, this time with Elon wanting to instal networks of tunnels for yet another generation of transportation landscapes this time underground. Bold and admirable as his plans may be, history has shown that due to overpopulation, building more roads never really alleviates traffic, in the long term it gets just as clogged and packed with an ever growing throng of vehicles as the last set of new roads and the next. I think that if any focus on designing infrastructure is going to help create a more sustainable city, it will be greater investment in more abundant mass transit systems, but I understand that you can't exactly tell the owner of a car company to stop dreaming about new roads. Yes, soon we will all be shot through a network of tubes courtesy of Mr. Musk in our own highly efficient and air conditioned 60k electric teslas, wait, am I dreaming?
