On Thursday our Design thinking group discussed improving the commute be eliminating it altogether. We suspended disbelief and proposed teleportation. What would it look like? How would it be sold? How would it be regulated? The more I though about it, the more it seemed like we were designing a 3D printer for organisms, so I decided to do a quick search and turned up this video. I found the idea fascinating from a landscape architecture perspective. This 3d printer essentially sets up tiny landscapes that are completed by the growth of fungi, and I think they are kind of beautiful. If this technology is already here, how soon before we can print me a new liver? Brain? Body?
