Prototyping II

For this second in class assignment, my partner Mike and I were tasked with redesigning the gift giving process for each other. We interviewed each other about the last gift we gave, then designed a few options for alternative gifts to enhance the gift giving experience. We selected one and prototyped it, then had a final brainstorming session and took notes on how well the design and solved the problem at hand. Mike mentioned being dissatisfied with how he had wrapped his last gift, so I came up with a cost effective and authentic way of presenting the item, which was an antique dagger. Mike had mentioned that the dagger carried a lot of meaning and symbolism for both him and its recipient, and so I designed a cloth wrap that would also house a commemorative letter bearing the giver's blessing of the weapon. I met with mike on Friday 1/27 and presented him with the gift. We discussed the strengths of the design in accomplishing the stated problem.
